SANS 10142-1 Wiring Code

The South African National Standard for the wiring of premises. Every TOOLE inspection is benchmarked against the latest edition — covering electrical safety, circuit isolation, earthing and bonding, surge protection, and earth-leakage protection on every circuit. We test continuity, polarity, insulation resistance, and earth-fault loop impedance on every installation, and document the readings in your certificate.

Department of Labour Registered

Our work is signed off by a Registered Installation Electrician registered with the South African Department of Labour, in accordance with Regulation 6(4) of the Electrical Installation Regulations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 85 of 1993. This registration is what makes your Certificate of Compliance legally valid for property transfer, sale, lease, and insurance purposes.

Documentation You Can Trust

Each Certificate of Compliance includes a full schedule of tested circuits, recorded electrical readings, identified non-compliances (if any), and remedial work completed before issue. The certificate is auditable, transferable, and accepted by every major South African bank, conveyancing firm, and short-term insurer. We retain a record of every certificate issued so we can re-inspect and re-issue if the original is ever lost.

Solar PV Compliance

For solar photovoltaic installations we issue a Solar COC covering inverter installation, panel mounting and earthing, DB integration, anti-islanding protection, and grid-tie compliance. Required by every Gauteng municipality before grid connection and by every short-term insurer for solar-related claims. We work to the SSEG (Small-Scale Embedded Generation) regulations applicable to your municipal area.

Continuing Education

South African electrical regulations evolve — and so do we. Our team trains continuously to stay current with amendments to SANS 10142-1, the SSEG regulations, and Department of Labour guidance. When the standard changes, we update our testing protocol the same week, so the certificate you receive today reflects the latest legal requirements.

What Your Certificate Looks Like

Your certificate is signed by hand on-site, the moment the inspection passes. You receive the printed, signed original — same day, in your hand, before we leave. The certificate carries the registered installer's number, a unique certificate number traceable in the Department of Labour database, the property address, the date of inspection, and the full test schedule. Banks and conveyancers verify these details — every TOOLE certificate verifies cleanly because every TOOLE certificate is genuine.
